Welcome to The Lotus & the Water Lily

Here, I share insights on holistic health, postmenopausal wellness, and the deeper journey of aging with intention. Topics range from thyroid health and hormones to sleep, identity, and nourishment of the soul.

The name of this blog was inspired by the Buddhist saying: “No Mud, No Lotus.” The lotus flower is a powerful symbol of rebirth, enlightenment, feminine energy, and longevity. Unlike its cousin the water lily, which grows effortlessly on the water’s surface, the lotus rises from deep within the mud. It’s this mud — the challenges, struggles, and adversity — that nourishes the lotus and allows it to bloom into something extraordinary. Without the mud, there can be no lotus.

The water lily, like the lotus, is also a symbol of rebirth and purity. It lives at the surface, beautiful in its own right. The difference is the lotus grows taller, lives longer, and has larger leaves than the water lily. Since not everyone is ready to dive deep right away, I use this blog to offer both small steps and quick wins, alongside deeper, more transformative guidance. From navigating change to reclaiming your energy, or simply seeking a more aligned way to live, this space offers practical tools, thoughtful reflections, and meaningful support to help you thrive in your next chapter. Sometimes you just need to dip your toe in before you dive in. Plus, I really love both lotuses and water lilies.

I'm so glad you're here! Whether you're just dipping your toe in or ready to dive deep, I’m here to meet you where you are. Book a free discovery call to see how coaching might support your journey.
